Azlan is doing extremely well. The ride home from Seattle we never heard a peep. I stopped and woke him once to feed him and give him more medicine...that was it. He came home and slept 5 hours in his bed...woke only for pain so I gave him more medicine, held him til it kicked in and that was it. He didn't want to eat...I guess he's pretty used to going 12 hrs at night without eating, b/c he wouldn't take his bottle. Now he just woke at 7:45am and it seems he's uncomfortable again...its been over 4 hrs since he last had his medicine so we just gave him more. He's allowed to have it every 4hrs but has been going 5 hrs so he's doing good.
Daddy is singing to him now while he touches his face, we are thinking its itchy b/c his little arm restrainsts keep flying up in the air as he shakes his head from side to side.
The doctors and nurses kept commenting on 'what a happy baby'. They said its rare to have a baby with a cleft surgery to eat without screaming for hours. They have a whole new way of breathing and eating...they are used to breathing through their mouth as they eat but now he can't. Azlan didn't even hesitate he just ate immediately. He does have a lot of gas...we could even see all the air in his colon when he had the bladder xray done. So we just have to wait for that to keep passing then he should be having dirty diapers for a wk...with how much he has eaten since his surgery!
He had the bladder dye test done just before we were discharged yesterday. That was sad. He was strapped in 4 places (feet, belly, thighs, head) to a piece of 2x6wood...just his little arm restraints hanging off. Then a cathedar was inserted and put dye into his bladder to see if it was refluxing up into his kidneys. He was an ANGEL. He just stared up at me as we talked about everyone from Papa in the ocean to Zion watching Dora back at the room. He fell asleep. They couldn't beleive it! If you had seen how uncomfortable he looked you would be shocked too! :) He screamed when they put the cathedar in but then really didn't cry until his bladder was so full he was extremely uncomfy and you could see his bladder looking like it was going to burst on the screen. Finally he peed' and everything was better. THey had to repeat it again. We were glad when it was over. That was all. the test did NOT show reflux so we are not sure where we will be going from here...it will probably be repeated again. My mom was saying that I also passed one of these tests too...but went on to get it done twice later on. Everything seemed to indicate this is what was happening so we'll see.
Hope you all enjoyed the pictures. xoxox
